The question of whether Belfast wants, or needs a Peace Museum has long been up for debate.
This is Number One, Bruce Street, a people focused community Peace Museum right in Belfast city centre.
In starting this design, I was very aware of the impact of making a peace museum in such a recently post conflict city.
Taking inspiration from the site and surrounding areas, I was struck by just how much regeneration is happening across the city. The signs of a city shrugging off old conflict and creating a new built environment to house the new, peace defending generation, Northern Ireland will see in the coming years.
My building takes its story from the ideas of sympathetic design that still makes a statement, much like the future generations of Belfast need to do.
